This Spiced Pear Oat Baby Food Puree is a nutritious and comforting meal for your little one, combining tender pears, wholesome oats, and naturally sweet dates with a hint of warm cloves. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for introducing solid foods, offering options for both smooth and chunky textures suitable for different baby stages.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit and Grains

  • 2 pears, peeled, cored and roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 3 dates

Spices and Liquids

  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Cook the pears, oats, and cloves: Combine the chopped pears, old-fashioned oats, water, and ground cloves into a medium saucepan. Heat on medium-low, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes until the pears are tender.
  2. Soak the dates: Place the dates in a small bowl and cover them with very warm water. Allow them to soak for 10 minutes to soften, ensuring ease of blending.
  3. Blend the puree: Drain the soaked dates and add them along with the cooked pear and oats mixture into a blender or food processor. For a smooth Stage 2 puree, blend continuously for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth. For a chunkier Stage 3 puree, pulse the mixture in 5-second intervals until desired chunky texture is reached.

Notes

  • Ensure the pears are ripe and soft for better flavor and texture.
  • You can adjust the water quantity slightly depending on desired puree consistency.
  • The soaked dates add natural sweetness without added sugar.
  • For babies new to oats, introduce gradually to monitor any allergic reactions.
  • This puree can be refrigerated for up to 48 hours or frozen for up to a month.
