BEEF MARINADE:

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp water

STIR FRY SAUCE:

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

MAIN INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 lb shrimp, deveined and shelled
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • Sesame seeds, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare Beef Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, cornstarch, ground pepper, garlic powder, brown sugar, and water. Marinate the beef for an hour in the fridge or proceed to the next step.
  2. Create Stir Fry Sauce: Combine cornstarch, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cook Beef: Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until no longer pink, approximately 3-4 minutes. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
  4. Prepare Shrimp and Vegetables: In the same pan, heat another tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook until pink. Then, add onion and broccoli, stirring for 2-3 minutes until tender.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Whisk the prepared stir fry sauce and add it to the pan. Stir well and thicken the sauce. Add the cooked beef and stir until combined, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve: Serve the stir fry over rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds, green onion, and red pepper flakes if desired.
