Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef Patties:

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)

For the Mushroom Gravy:

  • 1 medium onion, sliced or chopped
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 3/4 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prep all ingredients prior to getting started.
  2. Add all the beef patty ingredients (except for the olive oil) to a fairly large prep bowl. Mix together and form 4 patties.

  3. Fry the beef patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the patties for 5-6 minutes per side. Set aside.

  5. Sauté onions and mushrooms.
  6. Cook until seared, about 7-9 minutes. Transfer to the plate with the beef patties.

  7. Prepare the gravy.
  8. Melt butter in the skillet, add flour, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder until thickened.

  9. Combine and simmer.
  10. Return patties, onions, and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes until patties are cooked through and the sauce thickens.

  11. Serve.
  12. Season with salt and pepper if needed and serve hot.

Notes

  • This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes or over egg noodles.
  • For a richer gravy, you can add a splash of heavy cream at the end.
