Tea Base
- 2 Black Tea Bags (or 2 tsp loose leaf tea)
- 2 cups Water (for steeping)
- Ice, as needed
Mango Puree
- 1 Ripe Mango (or frozen mango cubes), diced
- 2 cups Water (for simmering)
Sweetener
- Steep the Tea: Boil 2 cups of water and pour it into a large pitcher with the 2 black tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for about 10 minutes to extract a rich flavor.
- Prepare Mango Puree: While the tea steeps, heat 2 cups of water in a saucepan along with the diced mango. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, mashing the mango occasionally to create a thick puree.
- Combine and Sweeten: Strain the mango mixture into the pitcher with the steeped tea to remove pulp and mango fibers. Add 2 tablespoons of honey and stir well until fully dissolved.
- Chill and Serve: Allow the tea to cool down to room temperature, then refrigerate to chill. Serve the mango iced tea over ice cubes, garnished with fresh mango slices if desired.
Notes
- Adjust honey to taste if you prefer a sweeter or less sweet tea.
- Using ripe mangoes gives the best natural sweetness and flavor.
- For stronger tea flavor, steep the tea bags a few minutes longer but avoid bitterness.
- This recipe can be stored refrigerated for up to 2 days.
- Feel free to substitute black tea with green tea for a different flavor profile.
