Crispy roasted Brussels sprouts with a smoky, spicy, and sweet glaze inspired by Longhorn Steakhouse, perfect as a flavorful side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Brussels Sprouts

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chipotle powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Roast Brussels sprouts: In a large bowl, toss the trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts with the extra virgin olive oil until evenly coated. Spread them out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet with the cut side down. Roast in the oven for 10 minutes, then flip the sprouts and roast again for an additional 10-15 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  3. Make the sauce: While the Brussels sprouts are roasting, whisk together the melted butter, chili powder, paprika, chipotle powder, kosher salt, red pepper flakes, honey, and maple syrup in a small bowl until well combined.
  4. Toss sprouts in sauce: Remove the roasted Brussels sprouts from the oven and immediately toss them in the prepared sauce while they are still hot, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  5. Serve warm: Transfer the sauced Brussels sprouts to a serving dish and serve warm as a delicious side dish.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, make sure the Brussels sprouts are spaced out well on the baking sheet without overcrowding.
  • You can adjust the level of spiciness by reducing or increasing the amount of red pepper flakes and chipotle powder according to your preference.
  • Use fresh Brussels sprouts for the best texture and flavor.
  • This dish pairs well with steak, chicken, or as a flavorful vegetarian side.
