  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

  • 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Make the Bread Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Mix in the sour cream, lemon juice, and lemon zest until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Prepare the Cream Cheese Swirl: In a small bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, and lemon juice until smooth.
  6. Assemble the Bread: Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Dollop half of the cream cheese mixture over the batter and swirl gently with a knife.
