Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Other

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until fully combined. Set aside.
  2. Cook the broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add broccoli florets and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes, until just tender but still crisp. Remove broccoli from skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the chicken: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the skillet. Add the ground chicken, season with salt and black pepper, and cook while breaking apart with a spoon for about 5 to 6 minutes until the chicken is browned and cooked through.
  4. Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Add the sauce: Pour the prepared honey sriracha sauce over the chicken and stir well to coat evenly. Let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  6. Combine broccoli and chicken: Return the sautéed broccoli to the skillet with the chicken and toss everything together to coat well with the sauce.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, and serve immediately with rice or noodles if desired.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari sauce instead of soy sauce.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha and red pepper flakes to control the spiciness level.
  • Use fresh broccoli for best texture; frozen can be used but may result in softer florets.
  • Sesame oil is optional but adds a nice nutty depth of flavor.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed jasmine rice or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
