Ingredients

Scale

Shawarma Seasoning Blend

  • 2 Tbsp Cumin
  • 2 Tbsp Paprika (or Smoked Paprika)
  • 1 Tbsp Ground Coriander
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Cardamom
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Pepper

Marinade (optional)

  • 1/4 cup Shawarma Seasoning
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Lemon Juice

Instructions

  1. Combine Spices: In a medium-sized bowl, add all the spices listed for the shawarma seasoning and mix thoroughly until well combined.
  2. Store the Seasoning: Transfer the spice mixture into an airtight container and store it in a cool, dry place. The seasoning will stay fresh and flavorful for up to 6 months.
  3. Prepare Marinade: To create a marinade, whisk together 1/4 cup of the shawarma seasoning blend with 1/4 cup olive oil and 1/4 cup lemon juice until fully combined.
  4. Marinate Meat: Use the marinade to coat approximately 2 pounds of your choice of meat. Allow the meat to marinate for 1 to 24 hours in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors before cooking.
  5. Use as Seasoning: Alternatively, sprinkle the shawarma seasoning directly onto meats or vegetables as a dry rub or seasoning before cooking using your preferred method.

Notes

  • Use smoked paprika for a deeper smoky flavor.
  • Adjust salt and pepper to your taste preferences.
  • Marinating meat for longer enhances the flavor intensity.
  • Great for chicken, beef, lamb, or even vegetables.
  • Store in an airtight container away from heat and light to preserve freshness.
