  • 2 pounds Top sirloin steak or Ribeye (trimmed and sliced very thin)
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil divided
  • Cheese and Spreads:

  • 8 slices mild provolone cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Bread and Vegetables:

  • 4 hoagie rolls (sliced through)
  • 4 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1 large yellow onion (chopped)
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Seasonings:

  • 2 teaspoons coarse Kosher salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Steak: Place the steak in the freezer for 30 minutes, then slice thinly. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Prepare Ingredients: Slice onions, split hoagie rolls, and mix butter with garlic.
  3. Toast Rolls: Spread garlic butter on rolls and toast until golden brown.
  4. Saute Onions: Cook onions until caramelized, then set aside.
  5. Cook Steak: Sear steak, add onions, and top with provolone cheese.
  6. Assemble: Spread mayo on rolls, fill with steak mixture, and serve.
