Ingredients

Scale

Salad Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen dumplings of choice (2030 pieces)
  • 1½ cups arugula
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 1 cucumber (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup green onions (sliced)
  • ½ onion (thinly sliced)
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

Dressing Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp freshly minced garlic
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp chili crisp or chili oil
  • 23 tbsp water (to thin)

Instructions

  1. Make the Dressing: In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, and chili crisp or chili oil. Slowly add water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dressing reaches your desired consistency, usually between 2-3 tablespoons. Set aside to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Prepare the Salad: In a large salad bowl, combine arugula, halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced cucumber, sliced green onions, and thinly sliced onion. Toss lightly to mix the fresh vegetables evenly.
  3. Cook the Dumplings: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the frozen dumplings in a single layer and pan-fry for 3 to 5 minutes, flipping occasionally to ensure all sides become golden brown and crispy.
  4. Assemble the Salad: Once dumplings are cooked, add them directly into the salad bowl with the vegetables. Pour the prepared spicy soy dressing over the top, sprinkle sesame seeds evenly, and toss gently to combine all ingredients without breaking the dumplings.
  5. Serve: Serve the salad immediately while the dumplings are still warm and crispy. Optionally, drizzle additional chili oil over the top for an extra kick of heat. Enjoy this fresh, spicy, and crispy salad as a main or side dish.

Notes

  • Use your favorite dumplings, whether vegetable, chicken, or pork, depending on your preference.
  • For a gluten-free option, opt for tamari sauce instead of regular soy sauce.
  • If you prefer a milder dressing, reduce or omit the chili crisp/chili oil.
  • You can pan-fry the dumplings until crispy or steam them with a quick sear afterward for texture contrast.
  • This salad is best served immediately to preserve the crispiness of the dumplings.
