Mozzarella & Breading
- 8 slices fresh mozzarella
- ½ cup flour
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- ½ cup olive oil
Marinara Sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato puree
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Mix together the flour and garlic powder in one dish.
- Whip together the egg and milk in another dish.
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third dish.
- Bread the mozzarella rounds by dipping in flour, then the egg wash, and finally the panko.
- Place breaded mozzarella on parchment paper on a baking sheet and freeze.
- In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add tomato puree, bring to a simmer.
- Stir in remaining marinara ingredients and simmer over low heat.
- Preheat Blackstone griddle to medium heat.
- Oil the griddle generously.
- Cook mozzarella on the griddle, browning on both sides.
- Remove promptly and serve with marinara.
