Celebrate Independence Day with these festive 4th of July Fireworks Cookies! A vanilla cake mix base loaded with Oreo cookie chunks, M&M’s, and sprinkles makes for a colorful and delicious treat.

Cookies:

  • 115.25 ounce vanilla cake mix
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups Oreo cookie chunks (14 chocolate cream-filled)
  • 3/4 cup red, white, & blue M&M’s, divided
  • 1/2 cup red, white, & blue sprinkles, divided

Instructions

  1. Mix: Together the dry cake mix, butter, cream cheese, egg, and vanilla until a soft dough forms.
  2. Stir in: The cookie chunks, 1/2 cup M&M’s, and 1/4 cup of the sprinkles gently.
  3. Refrigerate: The dough for 60 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven: To 350 degrees.
  5. Use: A 2-tablespoon cookie scoop to make 24 even dough balls. Press the remaining M&Ms into the tops of the dough balls. Add extra sprinkles if desired.
  6. Place: The dough balls on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the hot pan for 2 minutes before transferring to a piece of parchment paper to cool completely.
  7. Store: The cooled cookies in a tightly sealed container.
